MassRobotics is home to dozens of individual startups with robotic and supporting technology ranging from agriculture, underwater, drones, medical, consumer, DoD-centric and first responder projects. Resident startups in our space are from around the country and around the world, working to advance their robotics and artificial technologies. (We do not fund nor take equity in our resident startups.)

Resident Startups
9T Labs was founded in 2018 by a team of pioneers, passionate about making the strongest, most lightweight parts more accessible. The company aspires to build the new manufacturing standard for the best performing parts at a minimum use of resources. 9T Labs’ Red Series, an end-to-end manufacturing solution, facilitates the conversion of metals with fiber reinforced composites through cutting edge automation, intelligent software and decentralized production at the most innovative companies.
Activ Surgical is a digital surgery innovator, with patent issued and FDA clearance for ActivSight Intraoperative Imaging Module for enhanced surgical visualization. They are building hardware-agnostic surgical software that allows minimally invasive surgical systems to autonomously collaborate with surgeons.
AirShare designs and manufactures systems to detect, track, and mitigate threats from wayward and malicious drones. AirShare’s OVERWATCH® Interceptor-UX is a lightweight, 3d-printed guided missile which disperses a non-lethal cloud of propeller-fouling countermeasures to safely remove threats from small drones in urban areas and conflict zones. AirShare has received over $1M in contracts for its Interceptor-UX missiles from the Canadian Special Forces.
The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology
The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is Austria’s largest applied research institute. The Center for Vision, Automation & Control (VAC) at the AIT provides the industry with research, technology and innovations in assistive and autonomous systems (e.g., autonomous tramways, autonomous construction machinery), AI-enabled process control (e.g., metal and plastics industry), adaptive mechatronic components (e.g., drive systems), and high-performance (speed and resolution) inspection and quality control systems (e.g., security documents, glossy and dark surfaces).
Aivot builds fast-learning and low-cost humanoid robots that act as workforce multipliers for SMBs. Aivot’s end-to-end solution combines the latest AI and robotics technologies into an integrated platform that can perform a variety of open-ended tasks in existing unstructured environments and be operated by customers. The skill customization for new environments can be done using UI on the “no-code” platform with a skills library.
Andromeda design and develop assistive companion robots for older adults capable of providing cognitive assistance to assist with the user’s daily routine. The companion robot will enhance well-being, quality of life, and independence by providing service and companionship and assisting daily life. This mainly includes cognitive and social support, mobility support, relaxation, health monitoring, and self-care support through human-robot interaction.
Apparel Robotics Corporation is a Boston-based robotics and advanced manufacturing startup. Founded in 2022 Apparel Robotics is leading the charge towards a new era of autonomous clothing manufacturing by solving the key problem – material handling of fabrics. Manipulating deformable objects with robots is hard. We develop solutions to make it easy.

FringeAI provides AI and IoT powered inspection solutions to factories. They are focused on applications that are difficult for computer vision systems and hire manual visual inspection. They offer configuration and subscription services.
Gaia AI offers a forest data platform that uses our backpack-based sensor suite (LiDAR and computer vision) to identify the volume and species of trees from below canopy measurements which we then combine with satellite imagery to scale our measurements to wide areas of forest. With this data, we help timber companies make data-informed decisions, from valuing new land to purchase, to better plan for timber harvests, to verifying forest carbon credits.

Haply Robotics designs and manufactures the inverse3, a precision 3D mouse capable of providing precise touch feedback down to the millinewton scale. We utilize 3D printing technology to build a variety of modular heavy-duty UGVs and AMRs. Our main areas of focus are the manufacturing industry and warehouse automation. Hathaway’s AI division provides software packages to convert existing UGVs to AMRs.
