Israeli automotive-grade LiDAR sensor platform provider Innoviz has announced a partnership with AI-driven perception and autonomy software company Cogniteam Ltd to develop an advanced counter-UAS (C-UAS) perception module. The solution combines Innoviz’s LiDAR technology with Cogniteam’s AI-powered 3D analytics engine to deliver precise drone detection, localization, tracking, and classification while significantly reducing false-positive rates. Target applications include perimeter protection, critical infrastructure security, and border surveillance.

According to a joint statement from both companies, “the integration of Innoviz LiDAR solutions with Cogniteam’s perception module is designed to enable system integrators and security solution providers to rapidly deploy high-accuracy drone detection, localization, tracking, and classification systems.”

Built on Proven Field Deployment Experience

The new counter-drone module was developed on the foundation of more than one year of successful real-world deployments of Cogniteam’s ClearZone platform paired with Innoviz LiDAR hardware. Use cases span perimeter protection, critical infrastructure security, and border surveillance operations.

AI-Powered 3D Analytics Engine

Cogniteam developed an AI-powered 3D analytics engine that fully exploits the spatial and temporal data provided by Innoviz’s precision 3D sensing technology to address current counter-drone challenges. The solution combines advanced machine learning algorithms with the object-analysis capabilities enabled by Innoviz LiDAR, aiming to deliver high-accuracy drone detection and classification while substantially reducing false-positive rates.

The joint statement noted: “The system analyzes object morphology, motion characteristics, flight behavior, and 3D signatures to provide reliable discrimination between drones, birds, and other airborne objects, enabling operators to respond with confidence to genuine threats.”
