On July 22, MassRobotics startups joined Boston Dynamics to demonstrate their technology and robotic innovations at the Massachusetts State House. The showcase featured robotics companies developing real-world technologies and advancing innovation here in Massachusetts. The event was organized by the offices of Representative Lindsay Sabadosa and Senator Michael Moore.

“This event was renewing their call for the legislature to pass the robotics and drone safety bill, S.1208/H.5444, An Act to ensure the responsible use of advanced robotic technologies. The legislation, introduced by Senator Moore in the Senate and Representative Sabadosa in the House, prohibits the manufacture, sale, or use of a robotic device or drone that is mounted with a weapon, with exceptions for the US military and its contractors. The bill also requires lawenforcement officers to follow the current warrant framework when utilizing robots and drones, and to report their use to the state quarterly, earning the bill an endorsement by the Massachusetts ACLU.” (Statehouse, 2026)

The session brought together state senators, representatives, and their staff to see the growing robotics industry across the Commonwealth. Lawmakers had the opportunity to interact directly with roboticists to get a close-up look at the innovation driving one of the state’s most dynamic sectors. From inspection and education to entertainment and healthcare applications, legislators experienced the strength and diversity of the Massachusetts robotics ecosystem.

The room was packed throughout the showcase! Legislators and staff engaged directly with robotics companies, asking questions, getting hands-on-demonstrations and learning about innovations being developed in Massachusetts.
