A training workshop on NASA Johnson Space Center’s humanoid robot, Valkyrie, was held at MassRobotics on January 23-24. The focus of the workshop was to provide graduate students and university groups with access to the robot for future research. The informational session provided introductions on robot hardware, software and simulation environment. Participants left with homework, so that they could return for a deep dive session – during which teams had a chance to try out their code on the robot with guidance and supervision from the training team. The overall goal was to familiarize teams with the robot so that hopefully they will consider this platform to validate their research results in near future. Researchers from Brown, Tufts, and WPI participated in the workshop which was organized by the Northeastern and UMass-Lowell research team hosting the robot at MassRobotics.
